Natasha Vicars
Lucky Dip project for Camberwell Arts Festival

RepeatedAddSq_design_72dpiI’ve designed and am having produced an ‘Addington Square Fabric’, this is a unique design based on my photographs of houses in the square, printed onto fabric, which will be useable for upholstery by residents and held at AV Fowlds upholsterers at 3 Addington Square. AV Fowlds has been based at this address since 1926, and is a family business running in south London since 1870.

The design itself is a digital artwork that layers photographs of many of the house facades in the square, so that the different window shapes, railings and styles of brickwork overlap into each other into a pattern. It brings together the fabric of the buildings in the whole square into an innovative printed cloth.

For Lucky Dip, 20 shortlisted artists were randomly allocated a public space in Camberwell through a lucky dip process and invited to make a new artwork for the site.
