Addington Square Fabric

RepeatedAddSq_design_72dpiAddingtonSquareFabric1_BobFowlds_NVicars_smlA site-specific project responding to Addington Square in Camberwell. I developed a new fabric with a unique photographic print featuring house fronts from the square, which is available for use for upholstery by residents of the street and held at AV Fowlds upholsterers. The project was inspired by AV Fowlds a family furniture and upholstery business running in south London since 1870, and based in Addington Square since 1926.

The design itself is a digital artwork that layers my photographs of many of house facades in the square, so that the different window shapes, railings and styles of brickwork overlap each other into a pattern. It brings together the fabric of the buildings in the whole square into a printed cloth.
